Allens Cross

St Bartholomew

Demolished

St Bartholomew's church, Allens Cross was built in 1938 at the corner of Hoggs Lane and Allens Farm Road as the housing estate west of Northfield was being developed. A romanesque-style red-brick building designed by S N Cooke, it was very much of its time with roundheaded windows; it had a north-east tower. A parish was assigned out of St. Laurence, Northfield, and St Chad, Rubery.

The church suffered an arson attack in 1998 and was deemed damaged beyond repair. The building was demolished in 2008 and the congregation now meets at Holloway Hall community centre on the Ley Hill Estate.
